WHEREAS, La Tanya Barrett will retire from the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services after many years of loyal, diligent and exceptional public service; and
WHEREAS, La Tanya began her public service career with the City of Las Vegas in December 1985, and she began employment with the State of Nevada in May 1991 as an Employment Security Specialist I with the Employment Security Division, assisting unemployed Nevadans seeking benefits and employment during their time of need; and
WHEREAS, La Tanya was promoted to Eligibility Certification Specialist in January 1992 with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services at the Senior Services District Office, assisting elderly and disabled customers in the MAABD program, and she transferred to Quality Control in the Program Review and Evaluation Department in June 1996 and was promoted to Quality Control Specialist in July 2003; and
WHEREAS, her quest for excellence in her work and program knowledge was recognized, and in October 2015 La Tanya accepted the position of Quality Control Corrective Action Officer, where her analytical skills have proven to be invaluable; and
WHEREAS, La Tanya has displayed exceptional commitment and dedication throughout her decades of service with the State of Nevada, during which time those in need were fortunate to have her as an advocate and civil servant, and through her service to her fellow citizens, she is able to leave her position with dignity knowing that she has made a difference in our community; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins La Tanya Barrett colleagues, friends, and loved ones in recognizing her exceptional dedication and service to the State of Nevada, with appreciation and best wishes for a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement;
