WHEREAS, Kenneth Leon began his employment with the State of Nevada, Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation in July 1991 as a newly appointed officer; and

WHEREAS, Officer Leon worked diligently throughout his career and promoted to the rank of DPS Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Leon worked in multiple areas of operation within Parole and Probation, including intensive supervision, house arrest, gangs, interstate compact, training, and the sex offender unit; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career Sergeant Leon made many notable contributions to the Division of Parole and Probation and other criminal justice partners, including speaking engagements with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's First Tuesday program, educating the public on the Division's sex offender program, and he is also credited with establishing the Division's first Sex Offender, Gang, and Repeat Offender Program Enforcement (ROPE) Task Force; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Leon will be remembered in his career for his many accomplishments, his abundant sense of humor, and ability to encourage and motivate employees around him; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Sergeant Leon on 25 years as a dedicated State employee and joins his family, friends and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  December 14, 2016 as a day in honor of
