WHEREAS, Janet Serial began her career in state service at the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services in 1985 as a Social Worker, later serving as the Office of Minority Affairs Program Manager to help address health disparities in minority populations, and will end her career by serving and advocating for Nevada women, infants, and children in the Nevada WIC Program; and

WHEREAS, Janet has served and advocated for vulnerable populations in a variety of positions within the Department of Health and Human Services for more than thirty years, and has done so with exceptional professionalism, compassion, and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Janet has exhibited a passion to improve the health and well-being of the youth of Nevada throughout her entire career; and

WHEREAS, Janet has been a strong supporter of community and faith based groups, working extensively with them to help provide compassionate support, service and respect for all Nevada residents; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins Janet’s friends, colleagues, and loved ones in expressing appreciation for her many years of public service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  March 11, 2016
