WHEREAS, Debra Scott, MSN, RN, FRE, has made lasting contributions to the nursing profession in Nevada, and will retire from the Nevada State Board of Nursing after 19 years of dedicated service, most recently as Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes Debra Scott's dedication to the nursing profession and the role she has played supporting the Nursing Board's mission to protect and advocate for the health of all Nevadans; and
WHEREAS, Debra Scott earned her Master's degree in nursing after graduating from California State University, Fresno, serving as Chief Nurse in three facilities and in private practice as a Nurse Psychotherapist prior to her state service; and
WHEREAS, Debra Scott has been repeatedly recognized as an exceptional leader in the nursing profession, illustrated by her selection to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, her induction as a Fellow into the Institute of Regulatory Excellence, and her membership in the International Council of Nursing's inaugural class of the Global Nursing Leadership Institute in Geneva, Switzerland; and
WHEREAS, Debra Scott has devoted her efforts to developing stronger nursing laws and regulations, more efficient licensing of nursing professionals, an organization-wide dedication to patient safety, and an environment enabling nurses to be champions for their patients; and
WHEREAS, in appreciation for her leadership integrity, and advocacy while serving as the Executive Director of the Nevada State Board of Nursing, the State of Nevada joins Debra's many colleagues and friends in wishing her the best for a happy and fulfilling retirement;
