CARSON CITY, NV - March 15, 2018

Governor Brian Sandoval announced today the departure of Communications Director Mari St. Martin who will pursue an opportunity in the private sector. Mary-Sarah Kinner, who previously worked for the Governor, has been named Communications Director effective March 16, 2018.

“Mary-Sarah was a trusted member of my administration on day one and I know from experience that she will do a tremendous job as my Communications Director,” said Governor Brian Sandoval. “She brings a wealth of knowledge of state government and understands the many initiatives and policy changes that my administration has pursued these past seven years. I am confident this will be a seamless transition as we begin to prepare my final budget and continue to implement policies throughout state government.”

Most recently, Kinner worked in the private sector for a local public relations and marketing agency. Her previous experience includes working as the deputy national press secretary for StudentsFirst, an education non-profit organization, as Communications Director for California gubernatorial candidate Neel Kashkari, and Press Secretary for Governor Sandoval’s election in 2010 and Communications Director in his gubernatorial office. Prior to working in the west, Kinner worked as a communications aide in Washington, DC.

“I would like to thank Mari for her dedication to the State of Nevada and for her hard work as a member of my administration,” said Governor Brian Sandoval. “We have worked together for nearly four years and during that time she has been a valuable member of the team which I counted on to meet difficult challenges. Her efforts have helped to develop the message of the new Nevada economy, and her dedication to our state has been second to none. She will be missed but I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

“As a native Nevadan, it has been an honor to serve under a leader like Governor Sandoval who set a bold agenda for our state and who continuously challenged his staff to be the best we could be for those we serve,” said Mari St. Martin. “Governor Sandoval is the hardest working member of this administration, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have played a small role in helping to make his vision for the new Nevada a reality.”
