Governor Brian Sandoval will sign Senate Bill 19 and Senate Bill 241.

SB 19 directly supports the Governor’s 2017 workforce reform agenda, as he described during his State of the State Address when he articulated a vision for “…putting all Nevadans, regardless of age or circumstance, on a career pathway toward success.”

Nationally, dual credit programs have been recognized as a proven strategy for increasing credential attainment and promoting college and career readiness. Students who complete even one dual credit course are significantly less likely to need remedial education after high school, and more likely to continue pursuing a college degree or credential and finish on time. This legislation will expand dual enrollment opportunities for all Nevada students by minimizing cost barriers, institutional obstacles, and other challenges that may be preventing students from pursuing dual credit coursework.
