Governor Brian Sandoval today issued a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt following a call earlier this week with him and prior to their one-on-one meeting in Washington, DC next week. The subject of the letter is related to the EPA’s proposed rule that would impose duplicative financial assurances obligations on the hardrock mining industry. Nevada’s similar regulatory programs are considered to be the best in the nation and the proposed rule would be a redundancy and onerous burden on the mining industry. A copy of the letter is attached.
