CARSON CITY, NV - August 21, 2017
Governor Brian Sandoval today announced the appointment of Bruce Breslow to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN). Breslow will replace Paul Thomsen who stepped down from the Commission earlier this year. Governor Sandoval also announced the promotion of C.J. Manthe from Housing Administrator to Director of Business of Industry, replacing Breslow. Both appointments are effective September 5, 2017.
“Bruce has served in my administration since day one and has served as a thoughtful problem solver as a member of my Cabinet. He is a seasoned regulator and I know he will do a fine job as the PUCN continues to make important decisions related to Nevada’s energy future,” said Governor Sandoval.
Bruce Breslow currently serves in the Governor’s Cabinet in his role as Director of the Department of Business and Industry. As the Director, he oversees 14 state regulatory and administrative divisions including the Athletic Commission, Transportation Authority, Financial Institutions, Housing, Mortgage Lending and the Real Estate Division. Previously, Breslow served as the Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Executive Director of the Nevada's Agency for Nuclear Projects and a Commissioner of the Transportation Services Authority. Breslow served two terms as the 22nd and former Mayor of Sparks, Nevada from 1991 to 1999.
“During C.J.’s tenure with the Division, homebuyer programs have been revitalized and the agency has helped over 13,000 Nevadans achieve the dream of homeownership. She has been a strong and steady administrator and I am confident her success will continue in this elevated role,” said Governor Sandoval.
C.J. Manthe currently serves as the Housing Administrator in the Department of Business and Industry since May, 2014. Manthe is a certified public accountant with both public and private sector experience having worked in the fields of banking, healthcare, public accounting, non-profits and state and local governments. Previously she was elected to serve as a council member for the City of Blaine in Washington State and as a county commissioner for Marathon County in Wisconsin.
