Governor Brian Sandoval will host representatives from the United States Department of the Interior, Nevada Departments of Conservation and Natural Resources and Wildlife, and Newmont Mining Corporation for the signing of a historic agreement promoting conservation of sagebrush habitat and species in Nevada. The signing event will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30 at 9:30 a.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers in the Capitol Building in Carson City, Nevada.

The State of Nevada, U.S. Department of Interior and Newmont Mining Corporation have reached an agreement to partner on a wide-ranging, landscape-level conservation plan that promotes conservation of sagebrush habitat and species on approximately 1.5 million acres of habitat in Nevada. Implementation of the agreement will allow the State of Nevada to work with federal agencies and Newmont Mining to put into practice the State’s Conservation Credit System to quantify and calculate mitigation on both private and public land.


Participants, including representatives from the U.S. Department of Interior, State of Nevada, and Newmont Mining Corporation will be available for media interviews immediately following the signing.
