Carson City, NV - September 23, 2015
Governor Brian Sandoval today issued the following statement after the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the selection of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) as the host site for the final 2016 presidential debate.
“No state has a deeper commitment than Nevada has to the ideals of equal opportunity, rugged individualism, the vast potentials of enterprise and hard work, in short, the very essence of what it is to be an American. For generations Nevada has been at the forefront of the growth and development of the great American West. Today’s announcement places the issues affecting Nevada exactly where they should be: on the national stage,” said Governor Brian Sandoval. “Congratulations to UNLV and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for securing this historic opportunity. I would like to thank the Commission on Presidential Debates for realizing the potential of our great state and recognize Frank Fahrenkopf, a true Nevadan, for his tireless work as Co-Chairman of the Commission. On behalf of the entire Nevada family, we look forward to hosting the eventual nominees in Las Vegas for the final 2016 debate before our country selects the next President.”
