Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Emil “B.J.” Almberg of Ely, Nevada to the Nevada Department of Transportation Board of Directors, effective September 25, 2015. Almberg will represent District Three for a term ending June 30, 2019. He will replace Tom Fransway of Winnemucca who served on the board for eight years.
“B.J. has worked on several highway and construction projects throughout Nevada and I am confident that his experience will provide a thoughtful and pragmatic voice on the Department of Transportation Board of Directors,” said Governor Brian Sandoval. “Nevada is growing once again and it is critical that we continue to plan and prepare for the infrastructure demands that accompany a rapid increase in population and economic diversification. Thoughtful and smart planning will help ensure smooth commutes for all Nevadans and the millions of visitors who travel to our state annually.”

Emil “B.J.” Almberg is a professional engineer and land surveyor with experience in the field spanning more than 20 years. He is the owner and principal of Basin Engineering Corporation where he has served as the project engineer on several roadway construction and infrastructure projects in White Pine County. Almberg’s experience also includes working as the assistant resident engineer of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Interchange along Interstate-15 and design engineer and construction support for 16 public schools in the Clark County School District. Almberg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has a professional land surveyor license.
