Carson City, NV - - September 11, 2015

Governor Brian Sandoval today issued Executive Order 2015-20 ordering all flags to fly at half-staff in observance of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. These designations have been enacted by Congress and proclaimed by the President in honor of those who lost their lives or were injured during the attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

"14 years ago today, America was shaken by a national trauma that directly or indirectly touched every American and forever changed our nation. We will never forget the sacrifices that were made, and the friends and loved ones lost on that tragic morning. But the tremendous sorrow and irreplaceable loss that resulted from the infamous acts of terror ultimately unleashed a revival of patriotism that crossed generations and united all Americans. Inspired by the courageous men and women who laid down their lives defending our way of life that day, we persevered with an unbreakable resolve to overcome the destructive ideals of hate and intolerance, and ascended to new heights with a renewed commitment to liberty, equality, and justice under the law.

Today I encourage all Nevadans to pause for a moment of silent reflection in honor of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. It is in these quiet moments that we seek strength, guidance, and the courage to live a life worthy of the memories of that fateful day. Reflecting upon all that took place on 9/11, may we, as Americans, find a renewed pride in our country, and as Nevadans, a renewed pride in our battle born state. And may we always express our gratitude and appreciation for the heroes among us who have sacrificed to defend our way of life, and the men and women serving overseas to preserve and protect our nation,” Governor Brian Sandoval.
