Governor Brian Sandoval has been selected to serve as Chairman of the National Governors Association (NGA) Education and Workforce Committee by NGA Chair Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and NGA Vice Chair Utah Governor Gary Herbert.

“Governor Sandoval is the right choice to help shape the policies to prepare today’s workforce to help America compete in the global marketplace. He understands the importance of education for individuals and for the economy. Nevada has benefitted greatly from Governor Sandoval’s leadership and so will the National Governors Association,” said Vice Chair Herbert.

“As Governor, it has been my top priority to ensure economic security for Nevadans by improving our education system, workforce programs, and ensuring opportunities for both businesses and job seekers. I’m honored to serve as the new Chairman of the Education and Workforce Policy Committee and look forward to working with my colleagues, and leaders in the education and business communities, to develop new policies for our 21st century economy,” said Governor Brian Sandoval.

The Education and Workforce Policy committee ensures governors’ views are represented in the shaping of federal policy in the areas of workforce development and education, including early childhood, K-12, and postsecondary.
