CARSON CITY, NV – Governor Brian Sandoval today made the following statement after the Research and Analysis Bureau in the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation released information highlighting Nevada’s steady climb up the employment rankings:

“I am very pleased that Nevada continues to make economic progress following what was one of the toughest economic environments the state has ever known. Over the course of just a few years, Nevada went from the strongest-performing state in the nation to the most economically distressed state in the country.

“When Nevada exceeded the job growth of 14 other states in 2011, however, some bright spots began to emerge. In 2012, our job growth was stronger than 24 other states and, this year, Nevada has picked up even more ground.

“Based upon a complete count of jobs in the first three months of this year, there are 22,000 more private sector jobs than a year ago. What’s more, this gain outpaced gains in 34 other states. While our efforts to grow and diversify the State’s economy remains one of our biggest priorities, these results give me great confidence as we work together to continue Nevada's comeback.”
