Governor Brian Sandoval today announced the Nevada Department of Public Safety Director Chris Perry has decided to retire from state service, effective June 28, 2013.
“Chris has served our state and its citizens diligently and bravely for three decades,” Governor Brian Sandoval said. “Throughout my time in office, Chris has led Nevada through a number of unique challenges and tragedies with dignity and respect. I thank him for his service to our state and wish him a fulfilling retirement.”
Perry began his law enforcement career in 1982 as a Trooper with the Nevada Highway Patrol in Las Vegas and previously served as Deputy Director of the Department of Public Safety. In 2005, Perry was appointed Chief of the Department of Public Safety Training Division. In 2006, he was appointed Chief of the Highway Patrol Division. Perry holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and extensive advanced law enforcement training; including certifications from Northwestern University, the US Department of Justice, and Nevada POST.
