Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has selected A.G. Burnett as Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, effective immediately.

“A.G.’s experience on the Gaming Control Board combined with his strong working relationships with gaming regulators and securities regulators in countries such as Macau and Singapore will be an invaluable asset as the Board moves into the next generation of gaming,” Governor Sandoval said. “Nevada is the gold standard in gaming regulation and I’m confident A.G. will help Nevada maintain our position.”

Burnett was appointed to the Gaming Control Board by Governor Brian Sandoval on January 31, 2011. Prior to his service on the Board, Burnett was the Deputy Chief of the Corporate Securities Division of the Gaming Control Board, where he handled all legal matters that came before the Division and oversaw regulatory and investigative activities conducted by the Division. Burnett also worked extensively with emerging and foreign gaming jurisdictions in their efforts to regulate gaming.

Burnett has served as Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Gaming Division of the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, representing the Gaming Control Board, the Nevada Gaming Commission, and the Nevada Commission on Sports. Before serving in the Attorney General’s Office, A.G. was as an associate in the law firm of Robison, Belaustegui, Sharp & Low, engaging in civil litigation with an emphasis on employment and commercial litigation.

Mr. Burnett received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1996, and his B.A. in International Affairs and Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1992.

Governor Brian Sandoval, Nevada’s 30th Governor, focuses his administration on economic development, education and an open and responsible government.
