Governor Brian Sandoval tonight made the following statement after visiting the crash site and being briefed at Reno-Stead airport:

“Northern Nevadans grieve again this evening with the news of causalities and injuries at the Reno Championship Air Races. My family and I extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families, and I know every member of the Nevada family is thinking tonight of those we have lost and those we cherish.

“I want to thank local, state, and federal officials as well as the medical professionals in our hospitals for their response to this tragic event. They have once again demonstrated that training and compassion come together when Nevadans are most in need.

“I have assured Mayor Cashell and local law enforcement that all necessary state resources are at their disposal.”
