First Lady Kathleen Sandoval is encouraging families across Nevada to participate in Family Day Dinner on Monday evening.

“It has been proven that the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to abuse drugs or alcohol,” First Lady Kathleen Sandoval said. “Whether it’s pizza or a gourmet meal on Monday night, the Governor and I encourage Nevadans to have dinner with their families, and we plan to do the same.”

Launched in 2001 by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, Family Day is a national movement that informs parents that the engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help keep America’s kids substance free.

Tools and brochures to begin discussions with your children can be found on the Family Day website,
