Ordering Flags to Half Staff

WHEREASon May 18, 2018, a senseless act of violence occurred at Santa Fe High School in Texas;
WHEREASall Nevadans express deep sympathy to the people of Texas, and the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of tragedy;
WHEREAS, the President of the United States issued a proclamation directing that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House, all federal public buildings and grounds, all military posts and naval stations, all federal naval vessels, and throughout the United States and its Territories until sunset on May 22, 2018, as a mark of respect for the victims; and
WHEREASArticle 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides:  “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada.”
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds until sunset on May 22, 2018, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the victims in Texas.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed at the State Capitol in Carson City, this 8th day of  May, in the year two thousand  eighteen.
