WHEREAS, on December 7, 1941, our nation was attacked at Pearl Harbor, and nearly 2,400 lives were lost;
WHEREAS, our nation, and all Nevadans, will never forget that day;
WHEREAS, December 7th of each year is designated as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to commemorate and honor all the brave and heroic persons who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and defended our nation and the cause of freedom;
WHEREAS, Nevada Revised Statute 236.045(2) encourages the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff on December 7th of each year; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
