State of Nevada Executive Order - Executive Department



WHEREAS, on November 5, 2017, more than 25 innocent victims lost their lives in a senseless attack on their place of worship;
WHEREAS, in the wake of this tragedy, the thoughts and prayers of all Nevadans are with the people of Texas, and the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of profound loss;
WHEREAS, the President of the United States issued a proclamation directing that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House, all federal public buildings and grounds, all military posts and naval stations, all federal naval vessels, and throughout the United States and its Territories until sunset on November 9, 2017, as a mark of respect for the victims; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds until sunset on November 9, 2017, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the victims in Texas.
