EXECUTIVE ORDER 2017-01 

Ordering Flags to Half-Staff in Honor and Remembrance of the Sacrifice and service of Detective Parque

WHEREAS, the dedicated men and women of the law enforcement community throughout Nevada put themselves in harm's way each day to serve and protect others;
WHEREAS, on January 7, 2017, North Las Vegas Police Detective Chad Parque tragically died from injuries he suffered in the line of duty while serving and protecting the residents of North Las Vegas;
WHEREAS, Detective Parque was a husband and a father;
WHEREAS, the thoughts and prayers of Nevadans are with his family, friends, the North Las Vegas Police Department, and the entire law enforcement community; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds from Wednesday, January 11, 2017, through Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from sunrise to sunset, in honor and remembrance of the sacrifice and service of Detective Parque.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed at the State Capitol in Carson City, this 10th day of  January, in the year two thousand  seventeen.
