State of Nevada Executive Order - Executive Department

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2016-33 

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS, the former President and Prime Minister of Israel Shimon Peres passed away on September 28, 2016;
WHEREAS, the thoughts and prayers of Nevadans are with the Peres family and the people of Israel, as we honor the leadership of former President and Prime Minister Peres and his historic work toward peace in the Middle East;
WHEREAS, the President of the United States issued a proclamation directing that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all federal public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels throughout Hie United States and its territories, including embassies, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, until sunset on September 30, 2016, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of former President and Prime Minister Peres; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds immediately until sunset on Friday, September 30, 2016, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of former President and Prime Minister Peres.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed at the State Capitol in Carson City, this 29th day of  September, in the year two thousand  sixteen.
