State of Nevada Executive Order - Executive Department



WHEREAS, numerous people were tragically killed and wounded during a terrorist attack on Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Orlando, Florida;
WHEREAS, the thoughts and prayers of Nevadans are with the families and loved ones of the victims of this attack, and we stand united with the people of Florida during this tragedy;
WHEREAS, the President of the United States issued a proclamation directing that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House, all federal public buildings and grounds, all military posts and naval stations, all federal naval vessels, and throughout the United States and its Territories until sunset on Thursday, June 16, 2016, as a mark of respect for the victims; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on Thursday, June 16, 2016, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the victims in Orlando, Florida.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed at the State Capitol in Carson City, this 15th day of  June, in the year two thousand  sixteen.
